Many people have noticed that our names have changed a couple times over the last few years. For a while, Gurudas was called Ravindra, Tripura was call Sarita, etc. In fact, the names given on our CD are different from the names on this website. Many people know the reason for the changes, but others have asked why our names are different.
The members of Bolo! became involved with a certain spiritual organization back in 2006. We met and became enamored with the guru who runs this organization, and the following year, in 2007, we all took initiation and became disciples. At that time, we were given new spiritual names. These are the names that appear on our CD.
In the fall of 2008, it came out that the guru had fallen from his monastic vows and had been behaving inappropriately with certain of his disciples. When this news came to the members of Bolo!, it was as though a spell had been lifted, and the guru’s allure vanished. Many other disciples felt the same way. We all came to realize that the guru, though not a true swami, as he ignored his monastic vows, was still spiritually advanced enough to possess certain siddis, or spiritual powers, and had used those powers to enthrall a community of disciples.
After his organization fell apart, Bolo! regrouped, dropped the spiritual names we had been given, and redoubled our own spiritual efforts.
We do not regret any of these experiences, as we learned a great deal and our spiritual enthusiasm is stronger than ever. We hope that this can serve as a lesson for others to always be vigilant on the spiritual path. As you advance spiritually, certain abilities will become available to you, and the temptation to use and misuse them is very great. You must always be on your guard against this temptation, and always be on your guard against those who would misuse their own spiritual powers. A true Sadguru must always be pure. Study the Guru Gita and the Upanishads, and learn the qualities of a true guru and how to recognize them.
